What we do at The Shine Academy

The Shine Academy provides exciting and interactive workshops for children to enhance their skills in Creative Writing, Handwriting, Comprehension, and Discursive Writing. With a deep understanding of the British education system, we offer guidance, practice, and support for children preparing for 7+, 8+, and 11+ independent school entrance exams. This privacy notice outlines how we handle any personal information collected from you while using our website and interacting with us.

What information do we collect about you?

The Shine Academy collects and stores personal data from clients (parents and students) to help achieve their educational goals. This data may include:

  • Information regarding a child's academic performance, including school reports and exam results.
  • Medical records and details, including any illnesses, allergies, or medical conditions affecting a child.
  • Financial details related to payments made to The Shine Academy.

How do we collect this information

We gather this information directly from our clients and students. Clients fill out forms online, communicate via email, provide information verbally, or complete paper documents. We also collect educational data and work samples from students participating in our workshops.

How will we process your personal information

'Processing' refers to obtaining or recording information or performing any operation on it, such as storing or using it. The Shine Academy processes information about you and your child to register for courses, ensure your child's welfare, facilitate our operations, and comply with all relevant legal obligations.

Do we share personal information

We will only share necessary information with relevant individuals. For instance, a child's name, emergency contact details, and educational and medical information will be shared with workshop tutors to ensure they understand students' specific educational needs and can respond appropriately in case of a medical emergency.

The Shine Academy collaborates with Janie Richardson School Search & Placement (JR School Search) to help students gain entry to schools in London. If sharing information with JR School Search is necessary, we will seek permission from our clients.

If the Directors believe it is necessary to share information with other third parties, we will obtain the client's permission.

The Shine Academy will not share personal information with external companies for marketing purposes.
